Cubist sculpture by Maurits Witdouck (Ghent Belgium 1928-2014) - This sculpture is a plaster study from a large bronze sculpture that is placed in the garden of the historic building 'Tpand' in the centre of Ghent. Maurits Witdouck was a teacher of the academy of fine arts Sint-Lucas in Ghent. He didn' t like to call himself an artist, he was a creator who was very down to earth. He did his first exhibition when he was 80 years old. He made several pieces of art who are now in known urban places.

Very large abstract wooden sculpture with solid sculpted lines. Those lines are splitting the massive wooden trunk in 2 parts which gives this sculpture an abstract and strong design. The pure wood and wood grains gives this sculpture a very organic character. The sculpture is signed and was made in the early 1990' s. Part of the studio collection of Roland LAVIANNE (1948-2022). This collection was acquired in collaboration with STUER and PSCHANTIQUES. Simplifying the features in the extreme, Roland LAVIANNE develops a powerful play on volumes, shapes and lines, using the light as a key construction material.

Very large wooden sculpture of a human being leaning backwards against a tree. This sculpture has a beautiful patina and has some nice artistic details like some dots of thick red paint added by the artist. The artwork dates from the early 1990' s and is signed by the artist.
