Artwork by Jiang Mafu

2000 €

Mixed media artwork by Jiang Mafu After several years of artistic training in the Netherlands and Belgium, both in Brussels and Antwerp, where he stayed five years, Mafu emigrated to Canada in 1997, where he now lives and works in the graphic industry. The work brings the Chinese philosophy of both Tai ji ials Ying and Yang together. The paper is his medium, he creates with paper, the so-called Xuan paper, that is made from both rice and the bark of certain trees. The work was created without using other media such as brushes and paint by sticking several layers of rice paper together. This piece is paper mounted on canvas. Applying elements is intentional as well as coincidental, it is an interactive relationship between creating and destroying (Ying and Yang) . Mafu was born in Nanjing on the 1st of January, 1963. Signed and dated in the lower right.

XXL abstract wooden sculpture by Roland Lavianne

XXL abstract wooden sculpture by Roland Lavianne

Very large abstract wooden sculpture with solid sculpted lines. Those lines are splitting the massive wooden trunk in 2 parts which gives this sculpture an abstract and strong design. The pure wood and wood grains gives this sculpture a very organic character. The sculpture is signed and was made in the early 1990' s. Part of the studio collection of Roland LAVIANNE (1948-2022). This collection was acquired in collaboration with STUER and PSCHANTIQUES. Simplifying the features in the extreme, Roland LAVIANNE develops a powerful play on volumes, shapes and lines, using the light as a key construction material.
